One most wonder that with all the data available, as standards and technology change, some might become lost and forgotten. Have you played any avi files or view a gif photo lately? Have you typed your assignment on Word Perfect or updated your spread sheet in QuatroPro? These are bits of our history fro future generations to rediscover

My first practical email address domain, the-college.iwctx.edu, and about a year later it became uiw.edu when it transitioned from a college to a university.
You can visit the WayBackMachine to visit snapshots of my Alma Mater's website, but unfortunately they do have a copy of it of the the-college.iwctx.edu. The one that is available advises visitors to visit www.uiw.edu.
Have a great day!

The first time I heard about the internet from the Nova episode, ConFusion in a Jar, about cold fusion. They talked about a discussion board or newsgroup where individuals discussed the issue such as how the scientists were holding the fusion experiment with their bare hands.

Purchased Wing Commander III as a Christmas gift for myself after it was released in 1994. I had CD's to play the movie scenes based on your decision and the goals of the game.
Now, you can download it for less $10 at Origin.

Here's one of the ships!

Here's a good way to experience the time before internet search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing, it is
The Internet Yellow Pages. It
was published in 1994 and was a guide to resources available at the
time. You could purchase a copy at any bookstore or your favorite
computer software/hardware store of the era such a Egghead Software. It
is available for purchase through Amazon for letting your "fingers do
the walking". As with progress, this book has followed the Yellow Pages
phone directory.

Have a great day!

FrontPage was discontinued by Microsoft but it was one of the first application I used to create a web page. Here is a screenshot of the application (sample shot, not a site I built)

It was a great "WYSIWYG" (What You See Is What You Get) editor for building my first site hosted by EarthLink which provided hosting a personal website for each subscriber. This was also the time I was introduced to FileZilla to transfer the files to my provider.

One of the first browsers used I used outside of the GUI's provided by the internet service providers such as Prodigy. It was available to use through my university account and allowed user friendly search. Mosaic and Netscape were also available but not support by Prodigy.
Here is a link about the Lynx browsers:
