The first mail reader i used, not including of Prodigy's mail service and even AOL, was Pine. It was provided by my university and each student could request an account. The first email I sent was to request information from a book I have purchased about the internet. It was like a directory.

What was your first application for using the internet? One of my first was ProComm Plus. It allowed me to connect to my university's internet, and many others used it to connect to bulletin board systems.
Here is a picture of the box it came in, which was also on the cover of the paper manual:

Here is a screenshot of it in action:

Do you remember the Product Internet Service Provider (ISP)? It was one of the first to offer dial up access on 2400 baud speed modem along with American Online and CompuServe in addition to local companies such as I-Link.net and Salsa.net to name just a few.
Here's a wiki link to refresh memories or experience a day of the internet past.
Prodigy

Here's an interesting article about it:
Where Online Services Go When They Die
The author of the article, Ben J Edwards, is asking for any copies of existing "C:\PRODIGY directory" to continue assist with re-building the service by devoted hobbyists . The screen shot above was obtained from the authors files. Please visit his blog for his contact information.

After searching for a new web hosting company that supports ASP.Net, the Forum for CSharpbucket is now online. It is built on the open source MVC Forum from MVCForum.
If you are looking for web hosting company that is compatible with ASP.Net, then try the ASP.net forum from Microsoft.
